COLUMBIA CITY — Rob Schuman, a lifelong resident of Whitley County, has announced his intention to enter the race for Whitley County Commissioner, District II in 2022.

“I could not be prouder of where I’m from and where I live, Whitley County, Indiana. My wife and I are thrilled to be raising our family on the farm that has been in my family for over 70 years, just a mile from where I grew up. I’ve been tremendously blessed to spend my life here and I’m eager to give back to the community that’s been so good to me and my family. I will be a proactive conservative voice,” said Schuman.

Schuman owns and operates the family farm once owned by his maternal grandparents, Guy and Shirley Jagger, in Thorncreek Township. He and his wife, Sarah, are raising their five children on the family farm.

He has also worked full-time off the farm for Bayer Crop Science as a field sales representative for over 15 years. He is a past vice president of the Whitley County Farm Bureau and past president of the Whitley County Young Farmers. Schuman is a trustee and senior usher at Merriam Christian Chapel, where he and his family are active members.

Schuman holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana University, Fort Wayne. He is also a member of the Indiana Beef Cattlemen’s Association, Whitley County Farm Bureau and the National Rifle Association.
